The Basic Idea:

A Folder Is A Channel Is An Enhanced RSS Feed

The EnjoyMyMedia Transmitter and Web site continuously work together in real time to transform personal computer folders into Netcast channels. Conceptually, a channel is no more complicated than a folder with files on your PC (plus some Web bookmarks and embeds) and a specific set of subscribers who are automatically kept in sync with the folder: whenever the folder's contents change, so does the channel's. Technically, EnjoyMyMedia channels are standard RSS feeds enhanced to support: privacy, automatic video conversion to Flash, eCommerce, collaboration, sequencing and lots more.

To a channel "Receiver" (such as My Yahoo or iGoogle), EnjoyMyMedia appears as a very large publisher (such as the NY Times) that has many RSS feeds. What is truly unique, however, is that our RSS feeds aren't news articles stored on a single publisher's Web site but are actually thousands of Netcaster's media that are continously monitored in real time (by the EnjoyMyMedia Transmitter) while being kept safe & secure on their individual computers.

EnjoyMyMedia transforms personal computer folders into Netcasting channels that deliver rich media in real time and
can be received by anyone almost everywhere without installing any software:

Typical sequence of events

Another way to understand how EnjoyMyMedia Netcasting works is to walk through a typical sequence of events:

(1) A Subscriber clicks a link to media in a channel they see on a Receiver. For example, in the My Yahoo receiver on the right, they might click the link to a race map in Reebok's Boston Runner's Channel or an autographed baseball in the Red Sox Collectible Channel notice how (the media's thumbnail, title & description help spark their interest).

(2) Yahoo transfers the Subscriber to the EnjoyMyMedia site so they may see the media (just like Yahoo would transfer them to the NYTimes site to read an article). Note: if the channel was designated as private by its Netcaster, before they can see any of its media, the Subscriber would have to sign in (once per 24 hours) to validate that they are an authorized Subscriber to this channel.

(3) The EnjoyMyMedia site queries the free EnjoyMyMedia Transmitter software that is running on the channel Netcaster's PC. It does so to check if the version in the site's On Demand cache is the most current.

(4) if the On Demand version is the most current, it is shown to the Subscriber (since the Transmitter automatically uploads new or changed files, this happens the vast majority of the time). It is possible, however, that the request to see the media is received before the file is automatically uploaded; in this case the EnjoyMyMedia Transmitter immediately uploads the file.

5) The Subscriber enjoys your media. Depending on the options the Netcaster selected for the channel, they can print or save the media, have a discussion with other subscribers, view the other items in the channel, and if the item is for sale (as the autographed baseball on the right is), add it to the shopping cart and purchase it right there, without leaving the page.

The end result: you're happy when the cash automatically shows up in your bank account and your customer is delighted with your product and how easy it was to learn about and purchase:
