Private, Public & Guest Channels
EnjoyMyMedia supports private, public or guest channels (which may optionally be part of a Network):
Public channels allow anyone to view them. While no prior invitation is required, users do sign in before seeing the media (the first time they do this, an account is automatically created for them). This allows them to "change Channels" and see more than one Channel at a time. It also enables the EnjoyMyMedia Ratings to track specific users' behaviors. Guest channels allow anyone to view them and do not require signing in. Guest users can only see one Channel at a time, however, and the EnjoyMyMedia Ratings are made anonymous (e.g., rather than specific users, it tracks Guest 1, Guest 2, etc.). |
A Network Of Channels
EnjoyMyMedia not only allows you to create individual, targeted channels but also gives you the ability to create your channels within a Network so that they can all have, with minimal effort, consistent branding, look and feel. Standard (Yet Enhanced) RSS Feeds
Because EnjoyMyMedia channels are standard RSS feeds you can use them where and how you would use any RSS feed. Place them on personal start pages such as iGoogle or My Yahoo, bookmark them in browsers or RSS readers, burn them on Feedburner to get all the cool Feedburner features (to name just one: displaying your channel on your web site as if it were a blog). And while EnjoyMyMedia channels are standard RSS feeds they have nevertheless been enhanced to support : eCommerce, collaboration, automatic video conversion to Flash, sequencing, privacy, and many of the other features discussed on this page.
Automatic Conversion to Subscriber-Friendly Flash Video
When you drop a file into a Netcast folder lots of things beyond simply transmitting it occur. One critically important example of this is when a video is saved to a Netcast folder, it is automatically converted into the subscriber-friendly Flash format. Unlike a camcorder video or mpeg video files found online, subscribers can start viewing streamable Flash video without waiting for the whole file to download: a 1 GB video starts playing just as quickly as 1 MB. So you can now employ longer, more substantial videos in your channels without the hassle, and required technical expertise, to manually convert each one to Flash.
Sequencing: Control Of The Display Order
Just like a TV network programmer who decides which show goes on 1st, 2nd & 3rd, you can decide the order of the media in your Channels. So you can sequence them to tell a story and be sure that the video of folks yelling 'Surprise!' comes before the photos of the birthday presents. Normally, RSS feeds inflexibly display things solely in reverse chronological order; our enhancements, however, give Netcaster's complete control over the sequence of media in a channel while still conforming to, and not compromising, the RSS standards.
One Click, Scan to Channel
Many of the important documents that Netcasters want to share are on paper and not electronic: price lists, spec sheets, manuals, etc.. With just one click, Netcasters can scan images directly into their channels from any Twain-compliant scanner or multifunction machine connected to their PC.
Netcasting Computer Completely Secure
The very design of EnjoyMyMedia ensures that only the contents of the folders you choose to Netcast are available to your subscribers, and no other folders or files are accessible. Subscribers only have access to a standard RSS-feed, which is simply an XML file. They do not have any programmatic access to a Netcaster’s computer. RSS is by design secure: when you subscribe to a NY Times or BBC feed you have no way to “see” other files on the NY Time's or BBC's computers.
Multiple Computers & Networked Folders
If you have more than one computer (multiple computers in the office, work and home PC's, etc), you can Netcast your media regardless of which machine the media happens to be stored on ... simply installing separate Transmitters on each. Alternatively, if the computers are on a local area network, a single Transmitter running on one PC can Netcast folders located on other PC's.
Subscribers can use any computer or smart phone; Netcasters use a Windows PC.
Your Subscribers can enjoy your media on any smart phone or computer (Windows, Mac, Linux) anywhere in the world. As long as they have an Internet connection and they are an authorized Subscriber, they have real-time access to your media.
Currently, Netcasters can install the EnjoyMyMedia Transmitter on Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 2003 Server or Vista computers. Additional operating systems will be added in the future.
